Welcome aboard Coolkatz! Yesterday was a special birthday for an adorable cat call Maggie. And since she’s a special cat needs an awesome birthday present, I’m gonna write about cat age and cats healthcare in this special belated birthday bash present…YEAHHH.

So, Have you ever wonder, how old is our little cutest? ...well, let me explain how cat age works.
Some say cat age 7 years per year which is not true , but actually in reality, the age:

This is just an estimation (due to not considering breed as some breeds like Maine coon which mature slower, thus reach teen (fully mature) age slower)

In veterinary practice, a cat’s age helps Veterinarian and AVO (Assistant veterinary officer) to give the proper health care:

Normally, the proper healthcare are given based on the below:

  • ·         Deworming
  • ·         Vaccination and feline virus test (in Malaysia normally FELV/FIV test) (recommended by your vet and AVO)

  • ·         Neutering (above 6 months is recommended)
  • ·         Heartworm test and prevention
Adult
 (1 year till 9 years)
Important:
  • ·         Physical examination (yearly)
  • ·         Deworming
  • ·         Vaccination (recommended by your vet and AVO)
  • ·         Heartworm, Flea/tick control
  • ·         Feline virus( for FELV/FIV) screening test for outdoor cats
Extra:
  • ·         Full blood and urine screening test (recommended at least 2 years, once)
  • ·         Dental healthcare
Seniors
(9 years above)
Important:
  • ·         Physical examination (yearly)
  • ·         Deworming
  • ·         Vaccination (recommended by your vet and AVO)
  • ·          Heartworm, Flea/tick control
  • ·         Feline virus( for FELV/FIV) screening test for outdoor cats
Extra:
  • ·         Full blood and urine screening test (recommended yearly)
  • ·         Thoracic and abdominal radiography (Recommended yearly)
  • ·         Dental healthcare

Hi,Hi, HI, Coolkatz! Semalam merupakan hari lahir seekor kucing yang comel bernama Maggie. Dan untuk meraikan hari lahir Maggie, Saya akan menulis sedikit sebanyak mengenai umur kucing dan program kesihatan mereka….Wooohooo.

Ok… saya ingin bertanya, apa umur kucing anda? Soalan yang sering ditanya oleh Doctor Haiwan aka VET dan Penolong Doktor Haiwan, aka AVO ....Hmmm… “tak pasti” , tidak mengapa J mari kita lihat bagaimana nak mengelasan umur kucing anda…

Ada yang mengatakan setahun kucing bersamaan 7 tahun manusia, ini tidak benar ye J , yang sebetulnya:

Ini hanyalah satu anggaran umur (sebab tidak mengambil kira faktor baka. Contohnya, kucing Maine coon, mereka lambat membesar. Oleh sebab itu, mereka lambat sedikit ingin mencapai umur remaja)
Mengikut penjagaan veterinar yang dipraktikkan, umur kucing membantu veterinar dan AVO untuk memberi penjagaan kesihatan yang diperlukan bagi kucing tersebut seperti yang disenaraikan dibawah:
